Atmospheric score submitted as part of the EIFF 2014 Composers Lab.
On the third day of the Lab there was an opportunity to workshop the attendees’ compositions, written to accompany a clip from Guy Pitt’s film ‘Greyhawk’.
“A man loses his best friend and finds himself. A withdrawn, blind ex-soldier loses his beloved guide dog on an infamous housing estate. Convinced that his dog has been taken by a local gang, he embarks on a hazardous mission, working against the odds and the clock to rescue his missing canine friend.”
In writing this piece, I strove to convey the uncertainty and trepidation of the situation that the character was placed in while retaining an ambiguity of tone throughout. The piece simmers with tension rather than making any clear judgments about the situation.
The track features viola performed by the excellent Nichola Kerr.
