Dennis The Menace and Gnasher is based on the much-loved characters from favourite DC Thomson comic ‘The Beano’, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in July 2013.
The co-production between Red Kite Animation and Australia’s Sticky Pictures was commissioned by CBBC and the Nine Network and was produced by Sueann Smith for Red Kite Animation and Jane Schneider and Stu Connolly for Sticky Pictures.
Dennis is the biggest menace in Beanotown, always on the hunt for fun and mischief with his loyal companion Gnasher. Together with their best friends Curly and Pie Face, Dennis and Gnasher believe the world is their oyster and, much to the dismay of Beanotown’s wider community, a place where they often cause mayhem and disorder.
Composed by Iain Cook of CHVRCHES and arranged and performed by David Simpson, series 4 of Dennis And Gnasher ran for 52 x 10 minute episodes with 52 x 1 minute episodes featured on the CBBC website.
The upbeat music for the series is a manic, exciting blend of pop-punk, heavy metal and straight-ahead rock’n’roll: Dennis and his pals love to keep it loud and noisy. Frequent action sequences and visual jokes provided plenty of opportunity for Mickey Mousing and musical slapstick.
