This is the website of David Simpson, a composer, orchestrator and producer based in Glasgow. Previous work has included music for BBC TV as well as film and remix projects.
I’ve started work on a solo album, kind of a follow-up to my 5:am release in 2003. This time I’m trying to create something more organic-sounding while still retaining the electronics and dark tone of the original sound. It’s slow progress at the moment as I’ve had a ton of website work on – so far I’ve demoed four tracks and working on another one. Maybe going for eleven this time round?
Just started a new musical project with Stewart McKnight, a guy I’ve been friends with for years and who I played with in Beyond The Forest. Stewart and I are massive fans of all things 80s: synth-pop, shoegaze, dream-pop, AOR, electro – it’s all in there, vying for supremacy in a delicious soup of tasty hooks. We’re about halfway through laying down our first track and it’s been exciting throwing in whatever comes to mind. I’ll be uploading demos onto the site as and when we finish them so keep those web-staring peepers peeled!
Yeah, yeah, I’m not so good at the old social networking. I get all fired up at first then lose interest to the point of inactivity for a few weeks. Worse still, after that I get scared to even check my accounts anymore! However, my post-holiday resolution is to really, truly make a proper effort so I’ve joined the eminently grown-up LinkedIn in a show of solidarity with my fellow ’srs business’ social networkers. Hit me up and remind me to keep it updated!
